Springtime mini sessions – Sheffield

Now we live in Cumbria we still occasionally visit Sheffield for weddings or for seasonal family photo sessions.

One of my favourite times of year is springtime when the daffodils are emerging and the blossom trees are in bloom.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens are amazing in early April. If the weather is nice you might not even need a coat!

With the closeness to Easter it’s fun for kids to bring along bunny ears or accessories to make it even more entertaining.

I do short family photo sessions and every year it’s so lovely to see so many familiar faces and meet new families.

We have lots of fun running around, hiding in daffodil patches and picking up blossom flowers for confetti.

This year’s springtime minis are advertised on the website now https://portraitsbyhelen.co.uk/shop/ if you would like to book in

Graves Park mini portraits in Sheffield

In the late springtime I headed down to Sheffield again for some portraits of families in Graves Park. Its one of my favourite places to go in Sheffield with an animal farm and in the late springtime the rhododendron bushes are in full bloom and are a fantastic backdrop for portraits.

Plenty of flowers to smell, long grass to run through and bushes to hide in, the perfect place for natural family portraits.

Give me a shout if you would like some family portraits this year.

Jennifer & Sophie – spring portraits, Sheffield

Throughout the year I sometimes travel back to Sheffield (where we used to live) to do a weekend of family photo sessions. I love the Botanical Gardens in the city, its such a fantastic place for portraits at all seasons.

Springtime is my favourite though and the Botanical Gardens has a fantastic display of daffodils and also blossom trees too.

I have done photos with Jennifer and Sophie before and I think they have definitely honed their posing skills by now! They were keen on all the jumping and spinning in the flowers. I love capturing the fun and laughter of these portraits rather than the traditional posing. Its much more natural this way and I think the smiles are always much more real too!

I’ll be back again in Spring for more daffodil fun! Give me a shout if you would like more information about upcoming photo sessions.

Nieve & Riley – Sheffield family photographers

Helen is a Wigton based portrait photographer specialising in newborn & family photography in Cumbria. She also photographs babies and families in Sheffield too.

Nieve & Riley are one of my favourite siblings to photograph – they have so much energy its unreal! One minute they are jumping up and down – the next thing I know they are climbing trees and hanging out of them like monkeys! I love the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield for portrait sessions – there is always something new to explore there.

Love it!

Helen loves photographing families in Sheffield naturally – let them be themselves! She also photographs families in the Lake District and Carlisle too.
