Ava – cake smash

The last time I saw Ava she was a little baby, she was just about to turn 1 when she popped into the studio with her Mum and Dad for her cake smash.

She wasn’t too keen to smile at the beginning but looked adorable in her party outfit! We did lots of singing and clapping to get some smiles.

After a bit of fun it was time to bring out the cake, Ava was very keen to just sample the buttercream but eventually with some help from Dad she was eating big chunks of cake and putting her feet in it!

After the cake smash we got clean with a bathtub full of bubbles. Ava had great fun splashing around.

Cake smashes are so much fun and a great way of capturing your little one’s first birthday!

Archie – cake smash

What a way to celebrate turning 1 than with cake! Archie is about to turn 1 at Easter and wanted to capture these memories with a photo session.

My cake smashes include photos of baby in an outfit first before we bring out the cake. Archie brought his Peter Rabbit toys with him which were so cute. We worked hard to get some smiles from him. I think he was more happy to do a model pout!

After some photos with the rabbits we brought out the cake. Our cakes are provided by Delicious Doughnuts and Delights – based in Aspatria.

Archie had lots of fun throwing around the cake and grabbing the icing off the top, even sitting on the cake and destroying it with a spoon!

After we were all pretty much covered in cake it was time to clean off with a splash in the bathtub, a great way to finish!

All cake smash sessions get cookies to keep to take home with them and also if there is any cake left you are free to eat this too!

Claire – Maternity portraits

Claire was around 36 weeks pregnant when she popped into the studio for her maternity portraits, her husband came along for photos too and they both looked amazing in the outfits they chose.

I also have some maternity gowns that can be worn during the photo session and Claire looked amazing in these.

She also included some props like babygrows and teddies which I love to balance on bumps!

As the weather was nice outside we managed to get some photos in the gardens around the studio too which was lovely.

If you would like to book a maternity photo session let me know – these are best done around 34-36 weeks.

Allonby family portraits

Did you know that Cumbria/the Lake District has an amazing coastline as well as all those lovely lakes?! We live between the main Lakes and the coast so we often visit Allonby for the beach there.

Its a lovely quiet place with fantastic pebbly beaches and the best ice cream shop!

I met this extended family during spring/summer for some up to date family photographs as a gift for the grandparents. I love to do this as I know how important it is for grandparents to see their family altogether.

Despite the breeziness of the beach (its not known for being hot!) we managed some fun photos of the kids running around the beach and practising their jumping skills before people got wrapped up in blankets and headed off for hot chocolate!

If you would love to book a beach photo session in Cumbria let me know – Allonby, Silloth and St Bees are all fab beaches!

Harper & Ezra, Keswick family photos

If you are on holiday in the Lakes what better way to capture those memories than with a family photo session.

We headed to Keswick by the lake side for a family photo session with Harper and Ezra and family. Ezra wasn’t too keen on the camera until we headed to the lake for stone throwing!

Derwentwater has lots of geese and ducks by the water’s edge and they are usually always hungry so getting some bird food was a good idea although a cheeky goose stole poor Harper’s bag of food!

We also headed onto the jetty for photos too. Lovely happy memories. Natural family photos of everyone having fun are my favourite.

Contact me if you are planning a family holiday to the Lake District and would like some up to date photos!

Charlie & Isla – Dodd Wood portraits

I love Autumn family photos and mini sessions are the perfect way to grab some fantastic portraits of all the family together.

Charlie and Isla were fab for their photos, I love Isla’s cheeky smile, we worked hard at lots of fun hiding and throwing leaves for those smiles. Dodd Wood near Keswick is fantastic for walks and leafs as well as having a cafe with hot choc to warm up with afterwards!

The colours are amazing in the woods and there were still plenty of leaves on the ground for fighting with!

If you would like to book a family photo session in the winter months let me know.

Laura & Harry

Lets throw it back to last summer for today’s blog post, because its so cold outside and I want to feel the sunshine again!

I did a lovely family photo shoot for Laura and Harry in Fletchertown. Our village has the most amazing little spaces for photos and the long grasses in the summer were my favourite (until they were mown down!)

Who else can’t wait for the summer sunshine?!

Elouise – cake smash!

What better way to celebrate turning 1 than with a cake smash and a little wander around the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield in your best party dress!

Elouise was a little star for her photographs with lots of smiles and laughs, we even got some walking too!

We got some lovely portraits with Mum and Dad too in amongst the lovely flowers in the Botanical Gardens

After we had enough of running around we got out the unicorn cake to celebrate Elouise’s first birthday and she had great fun destroying it, starting off dainty and then clutching big chunks of cake in her hands!

After she had smashed the cake with her hands and even her feet Mum & Dad decided to get involved too and ended up with cake on their faces too – awesome!!

I wish you a very happy first birthday, it was lovely to meet you all!
