Baby Caelan – newborn at home portraits

Newborn photographs at home are a lovely relaxed way to celebrate your new arrival.

You don’t have to leave the comfort of your home to travel to the studio and we can make use out of your surroundings for some really lovely personal photographs.

I headed out towards Penrith to capture Baby Caelan’s portraits. Their lovely house was the perfect place for portraits. We managed to get some lovely snuggly photos of him in hats and in a little basket before he was dressed in an outfit for photos with Mum and Dad.

I love to take photos in baby’s nursery or in the family living space, as the weather was lovely too we took some photographs in the garden. such lovely natural portraits.

Contact me if you are expecting a new arrival and would like to have portraits done at home. I usually pencil these in for a week after your due date

Springtime mini sessions – Lake District

I was so happy to see a few snowdrops have started popping up in the hedgerows, makes me so excited for springtime! With that in mind I have announced my springtime mini sessions!

This year I have three locations for getting photos in the lovely spring flowers, there is daffodils and tulips in Hope Park in Keswick, spring flowers in Bitts Park in Carlisle and also bluebells in Hesket Newmarket.

You can book onto my spring mini sessions on the shop page here https://portraitsbyhelen.co.uk/shop/

Last year I had the pleasure of capturing lots of lovely families in springtime, its always fun to capture children outdoors, gives them a chance to run around and enjoy themselves and we always make a game out of the photo sessions rather than having to sit and pose!

What’s your favourite time of year?

Feel free to bring along props to your maternity session and now the weather is picking up we can do some photos outdoors too – the spring flowers are popping up everywhere!

Baby Beau – newborn portraits

I met baby Beau’s brother a few year’s ago at my pop up Christmas mini sessions I run every year with Two by Two toddler group in Fletchertown so it was lovely to meet George’s new baby brother for a photo session.

George was a great little poser, although plenty of bribery and games were needed to get those poses! Baby Beau was lovely and chilled out, not too keen to sleep but such a little cutie, love squishy baby cheeks!

The family had brought along some cuddly toys including some that have been crocheted by a friend – such great quality! I always love to compare babies to cuddly toys in terms of size!

After photos of baby on his own it was time for photos with Mum and Dad too, these are my favoruite kind of photos where your little one is cuddled up to you and you are all cosy in your own little bubble.

If you are expecting a new arrival soon drop me a message to book in a newborn photo session, these usually take place in my studio in Fletchertown, however, I can also do at home lifestyle newborn photos in Cumbria too.

Sara – Maternity photos

I usually do maternity portraits in Cumbria around 34-36 weeks, however, it’s always possible to do photos when you are a little earlier on in your pregnancy.

Sara had a lovely little bump and brought some pretty outfits in for her maternity photo session. She also looks lovely in my boho gown which is so perfect for baby bump sessions.

If you are expecting a new arrival this year why not book in a maternity photo session, these can be done in my studio or on location in the Lakes.

Harry & Laura

Its always lovely to see the same families coming back to see me, last time I saw Harry & Laura was outside in Fletchertown fields before COVID hit.

It was lovely to see how much they have grown and to witness Harry’s football skills in action!

Laura was the expert in all things posing too, we managed to get some lovely sibling photos for a gift for family.

Always the perfect gift for a family member, my mini session days are great for grabbing up to date photos of the family.

Contact me to hear the latest news on family portrait mini sessions in the studio and outdoors!

Baby Gracie – newborn portraits

It was lovely to hear from Chelsea the other week to let me know she had welcomed another baby into her family. I last photographed Chelsea’s newborn baby in lockdown when she had little Lacey.

We did those portraits outdoors due to the COVID restrictions so it was lovely to see the family again 4 years later for baby Gracie’s newborn photos.

With 5 siblings Gracie will never be short of someone to give a cuddle or play with so we had fun with each sibling taking it in turns to hold her for photos.

Little Gracie was really good for her photos – love her little fuzzy hair – we had fun picking out little headbands and hats for her to wear as well.

After photos of Gracie on her own there was then time for photos with proud Mum and Dad where Gracie looked so cute draped over Dad’s arm flat out sleeping!

I love to welcome families back to the studio and to see a family growing. If you are expecting a new arrival this year drop me a message to book in a newborn photo session.

Julie – Maternity portraits

Julie came to visit me in my studio in Fletchertown just before Christmas. It was therefore a great idea to wear a Christmas jumper!

Love Julie and her husband’s disney jumpers, so cute! Julie had brought along a couple of dresses to wear for the photo session too, as well as using some of my maternity gowns in my collection.

I love to incorporate props into maternity sessions like scan photos and baby booties. It’s always lovely to see baby in these props afterwards.

My studio is next to some pretty grounds for photos too so it’s always possible to do some outdoor portraits as well as inside too – especially in the winter!

If you are expecting a new arrival soon the best time to book in for maternity photos is around 34-36 weeks gestation. Drop me a message to capture your bumps!

Eliza – First Birthday

I love to see little ones celebrating their birthday. If you didn’t fancy doing a cake smash then why not just book in for a mini photo session.

I provide balloons and my little teepee for the photo session.

Little Eliza really enjoyed the balloons, she even tried to eat them! She had lots of fun hiding in the teepee and peeping around at us.

After we had fun in the teepee Eliza’s doggy friends joined us for some photos too, there were many treats involved in getting these photos!

Such a lovely happy little girl, it was a pleasure to photograph!

Contact me if your little one is about to celebrate a birthday and you would like to capture these moments xx

Sienna – newborn portraits

Little Sienna was born just before Christmas and it was lovely to see her joined by her big brother too.

I do love newborn and sibling portraits, always fun to do when they lie down together and snuggle up.

Sienna looked so cute in a little wrap and hairband, she wasn’t too keen on being asleep but after more milk and cuddles she finally fell asleep!

Parents portraits as well as siblings too are so special, even if you do not feel confident in front of the camera it’s worth doing so you have these memories to look back on!

If you are expecting a baby this year drop me a message to book in a newborn session.
